BELLEVUE, Wash. – Today the USL announced that Midlakes United will begin play in USL League Two in 2024. The Washington-based club will be starting its first season of competitive soccer.
Owner and general manager Treencee Russell has lived in Bellevue for 20 years, and knows the city is ready to rally around a soccer team on a local level – Midlakes United.
“Contributing to the Puget Sound soccer community by joining USL League Two is an honor and a privilege. The Pacific Northwest has a deep love for soccer and a history of developing players,” Russell said. “That being said, our area needs more opportunities for development in the middle of the US soccer pyramid. Midlakes United will be a place for players to work their way up that pyramid.”
The club’s mission is to foster community and development above all else – a place for the Eastside to enjoy high level competition, while also fostering camaraderie around the world’s game.
Midlakes United has also partnered with the Bellevue College Foundation, to help build a grandstand and press box to complete the stadium project started in 2017.
“There aren’t just talented players in the PNW, which we know, but there are also plenty of talented coaches, owners and executives,” Joel Nash, USL SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, said. “As League Two’s presence in that region grows, the opportunities for players, coaches and executives at every level continue to grow.”
The club will announce more plans for its coaching staff ahead of its first tryouts on Jan 6 at Bellevue College. For more information, visit www.midlakesunited.com. Also, find @midlakesunited on Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, and LinkedIn.
